PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Pro Engineering Consulting took on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design for the renovation of the Old Mining Company restaurant located at 579 Grand Ave in San Marcos. The transformation encompassed approximately 7000 SF, involving minor architectural changes such as the addition of a salad bar, updated finishes, lighting, and equipment.

EXISTING FEATURES

  • The existing grease interceptor is located outside of the building.
  • Hoods in the kitchen are existing and to remain.
  • Reuse of mechanical units.

CHALLENGES FACED

RE-USE OF EXISTING EXHAUST HOODS:

Challenge: Each hood consisted of components from three different brands (Captive-Aire hood boxes, Halton Exhaust fans, and another brand’s smog unit).

Solution: Our team navigated the complexities of integrating diverse hood components, ensuring seamless functionality and compliance.

QUICK TURN-AROUND FOR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS:

Challenge: The project demanded a quick turn-around due to the upcoming Christmas holidays.

Solution: Pro Engineering Consulting implemented an expedited design and execution plan to meet the tight schedule, ensuring timely completion.

SCOPE OF WORK

ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING DESIGN:

Addressing changes required in the electrical and plumbing layout to integrate the new design seamlessly.

VENTILATION SYSTEM DESIGN:

Reusing existing exhaust hoods and optimizing the integration of components from different brands.

MECHANICAL SYSTEM DESIGN:

Incorporating the reuse of mechanical units to enhance energy efficiency.

Implementing a rapid design and execution strategy to meet project deadlines.
